Biochem water-based wood paint, over the past 20 years, has experienced an average growth rate of over 30%. With the current scale including 150 employees – specialists, factories, and warehouses covering an area of 10,000m2, it is clear evidence of Biochem’s remarkable development in water-based wood paint.
In the past few years, water-based paint for wood was not as emphasized in production applications compared to solvent-based paint (oil-based paint). However, through scientific research, application, and improvement of Nano-technology in the field of coatings in general, water-based wood paint has gradually been perfected and has brought excellent results. Today, water-based wood paint performs as well as solvent-based paint on wood, metal, and even surpasses them in durability and aesthetics, from design style, elegance, closeness to nature, to the environment.
Remarkable progress thanks to seizing opportunities
International Biochemical Joint Stock Company (Biochem) is a subsidiary of Cam Linh Limited Liability Company established in January 2002 by two founding members specializing in the business of fabric printing ink with a modest capital of nearly 5,000 US dollars.
In 2004, Cam Linh Limited Liability Company began cooperating with a Malaysian partner to expand the business of water-based wood paint, which was a completely new product to the Vietnamese market at that time. Recognizing the potential of the market, Cam Linh Limited Liability Company boldly collaborated with Malaysian partners to establish a joint venture company. Biochem Joint Stock Company was established in August 2006, building a factory on an area of 2,500m2 on a one-hectare site.
Together with the “giants” laying the first foundation
Laying the ground work for market penetration and development, in 2008, the company began to connect with IKEA Sweden customers through workshops introducing water-based products. After discussions between the two parties, the company became a paint supplier for furniture manufacturing plants for this group in Vietnam. Since 2009, IKEA has gradually transitioned from oil-based paint to water-based paint.
Next, Biochem succeeded in cooperating with the Williams Sonoma Group – one of the leading wholesale and retail groups in the United States with a focus on developing environmentally friendly products safe for children. This truly marked a significant turning point, marking a new progress for Biochem to develop into the largest global export market segment for premium customers.
Expanding market across Europe, American and Asian
After many years of struggle in the market, Biochem has been and is striving to expand its scope of operations. Most of Biochem’s customers come from the Chinese and Thai markets. In 2024, Biochem began to venture into the Indian market. Although still very new, Biochem is determined to conquer this market step by step. In addition, Biochem is also seeking ways to expand further in Europe and the Americas.
The dedicated staff of Biochem always maintains the goal of product development. Moreover, with the mission of constantly improving the quality of products and services for customers, we do not allow mistakes. Biochemical Joint Stock Company has gained the trust of the majority of customers ahead of the trend of clean, environmentally friendly paint products in developed countries such as the United States, Australia, and Europe to expand production.
From a round figure of 0, Biochem began to build a new factory in early 2017. The total area of the new factory is 4,000m2 with a total investment of about 20 billion Vietnamese dong.
Enhancing durable quality and service – the key to success
With a new production infrastructure, Biochemical Joint Stock Company (Biochem) has created a more professional and convenient working environment for 150 employees. Through this, we have contributed to boosting motivation for employees. In addition, the quality of life and income for workers have also been developed. At the same time, Biochem also promotes the growth rate of sales, better controls product quality. Moreover, the delivery time has also been shortened to ensure service quality when reaching customers.
From here, Biochem has also emerged as one of the largest and most reputable water-based wood paint companies in the Vietnamese furniture market with an average growth rate of 30 – 50% over the past 20 years. In 2018, marked the first year the company exported wood paint to the Thai market, with an average rate accounting for 1 – 2% of total sales in 2018 – 2019. However, by 2020, this figure had doubled, accounting for 4% of total sales.
Quality products as the main standard
The difficulties faced in the early days of entrepreneurship were both challenges and motivations to drive the creation of new, beautiful values. In the context of the economic crisis of 2023-2024, Biochem is still striving to overcome difficulties, witnessing the ups and downs like many other companies. Despite facing many difficulties, Biochem does not see them as obstacles to hinder its progress.
We continuously explore and research new product lines. In addition, the development of existing product lines has also been more focused. Moreover, community health and the surrounding environment are also the second factors that Biochem cares about. This is also the responsibility that Biochem has remembered for the past 20 years.
